Most itineraries online are built for a spreadsheet, not a tired family fresh off a long flight. This is closer to how the four days actually go for the guests I drive.
Day 1: land, and do almost nothing
If your flight lands in the afternoon, resist the urge to sightsee. Airport pickup, check in, maybe a walk to a nearby convenience store, and an early night. Everyone underestimates how flat the first evening in Korea feels after twelve hours in the air.

Day 2: a full day in Seoul
This is the day to do the palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, Myeongdong, and N Seoul Tower in one loop — it's a lot of walking, so start early and build in a real lunch stop rather than street food on the move. By late afternoon most groups are ready to sit down.

Day 3: Nami Island, and don't rush it
Leave by eight if you can. Most tour groups only get ninety minutes on the island and it isn't enough — with your own schedule, two or three hours is comfortable, and there's usually time left for Petite France or the Garden of Morning Calm on the way back.
Day 4: something slower, then the airport
If your flight is in the evening, don't plan a fourth full day of sightseeing — plan a half day. A market, a coffee shop, maybe a last round of shopping, then straight to the airport with room to spare. The families who try to squeeze in one more attraction on departure day are always the ones running late.
What I'd change for a family with young kids
- Swap the palace walk for something shorter — Everland works well as a Day 2 alternative
- Build in an afternoon nap window rather than pushing through to dinner
- Ask for the halal restaurant stop before hunger sets in, not after
If four days isn't enough
The DMZ and Gangwon's ski resorts are the two additions I get asked about most, and both work better as a fifth or sixth day than squeezed into these four — they're further out and deserve their own unhurried day.
